Q:	Does the proportion of juveniles in poverty vary by race and ethnicity?
A:	In 2011, non-Hispanic black juveniles were three times as likely to live in poverty as non-Hispanic whites and non-Hispanic Asian/Pacific Islanders.

In 2011, Hispanic juveniles were more than twice as likely to live in poverty as non-Hispanic whites and non-Hispanic Asian/Pacific Islanders.
For most race/ethnicity groups, the proportion of juveniles living in poverty was higher in 2011 than in 2002. The poverty rate for multi-racial juveniles increased more than 8 percentage-points between 2002 and 2011, the black rate increased more than 6 percentage-points, and the Hispanic rate increased more than 5 percentage-points.
