- Between 1980 and 2010, the annual numbers of male and female homicide victims were generally similar for victims at each age under 13. However, older victims were disproportionately male. For example, between 1980 and 2010, 84% of murdered 17-year-olds were male.
- Between 1980 and 2010, approximately 11,120 17-year-old males were homicide victims, compared to approximately 2,070 females of the same age.
